One of the most regularly touted success tips is ‘get a mentor’. And with good reason. Countless über successful sports stars, business men, politicians, developers, artists and entrepreneurs have stated that a great mentor has been a critical factor in their success.

Obviously you need to find a mentor in your area and work with them. We can’t recommend that course of action highly enough.

While you’re working on that, check out our list of success tips from some of the most successful individuals of the last 50 years.

Work even a few of the strategies below into your daily life and you’ll be rocketing toward incredible success before you know it!

RICHARD BRANSON

He’s the only entrepreneur to have built eight separate billion-dollar companies in eight different industries — and he did it all without a degree in business.

Branson recently released his top ten tips for success. Here’s the cliff notes:

  • Follow your dreams and just do it
  • Make a positive difference
  • Believe in your ideas and be the best
  • Have fun and look after your team
  • Don’t give up
  • Make lots of lists and set yourself new challenges
  • Spend time with your family and learn to delegate
  • Turn off the tv and get out there and do things
  • When people say bad things about you, just prove them wrong
  • Do what you love and have a sofa in your kitchen

That’s a pretty solid list from a man who really knows what he’s on about.

OPRAH

Oprah once famously shared, “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.”

She believes that the key to achieving your dreams is to not focus on success itself.

“What I know for sure is that if you want to have success, you can’t make success your goal,” says Oprah. “The key is not to worry about being successful, but to instead work toward being significant – and the success will naturally follow.”

“You become what you believe,” she adds. “You are where you are today in your life based on everything you have believed.”

Oprah also thinks it is important to recognise and seize opportunities. “I don’t believe in coincidences,” she says.
